If you have pain on the bottom of your foot you have probably been told you have plantar fasciitis.
Is it really plantar fasciitis?
Probably not. There are lots of muscles, tendons, and ligaments on the bottom of the foot that get overlooked but are usually the actual pain generators. In reality, the plantar fascia is rarely the actual pain generator.
Does it even matter which part is the cause of the pain?
Not really. If there is pain in the bottom of the foot we know some part of the foot is getting overloaded. The exact structure is not a huge deal. The important thing is fixing the function. This is only way to get rid of the foot pain and keep it away. Medications and injections only block the pain. This is why the pain will come back and usually be more intense when used.
To permanently fix the problem, you need healthy load through the foot. This means proper motion and strength in the ankle, knee, and hip. Foot problems are usually the result of an ankle or hip problem.
The tests I put my patients through figure out the true cause of your foot pain. Once I know the cause I can pick the best treatment to fix your problem. This is why my office is the best option if you want a permanent fix. Even if you have failed with other treatments in the past, you need to know one thing. There are only two providers in the state certified to do what I do. My treatments are different and they are better.
